Social Network - Story of Facebook

Just Returned after watching "Social Network", the story of Facebook.

Well it's an amazing tale, of a very simple guy, with super programming skills, and a very nice idea, who goes on on to create Facebook, a 25 billion dollars corporation.

Mark Zuckerberg, a Harvard Student, a genius programmer, creates a website, 'Facemash' in few hours flat, which gets 22000 hits in two hours and which shuts down the Harvard Network. This was the starting point to create something very big like facebook. The creative worm in Mark was constantly thinking, searching, desperately waiting for that birth to happen, the moment of truth.

The most important part was that, right from the start, when not even a single line of code was written, the idea was crystal clear to Mark that he wanted to start a company, a corporate organization, with himself as CEO, and his friend, who finances him $1000, as the CFO.

Mark gets accused for 'plagiarization of idea' this happens when a bunch of fellow mates from a Harvard approach him as a programmer to build a website, for social networking, albeit within the Harvard domain.

Mark, never reverts back to them, even after they send him 50 emails. Mark gets busy writing thousands of lines of code, and setting up facebook. Facebook goes online.

Mark also get guided by Sean Parker, of the Napster fame, who gets a 6% stake in facebook, this is for using his business contacts and setting up meetings with venture capitalists, and also taking facebook into the Europe and other major continents, and all the popular colleges and universities. It is Sean Parker, who must be credited for seeding the thought into Mark of making the company grow into a billion dollar firm.

Marks gets hugely funded, millions of dollars, and soon gets the one millionth facebook member.

Plagued by legal cases by his friend and CFO, and also the people who accuse him of stealing their idea, Mark settles all these cases, by paying them off. A small change for a person who had just entered the Dollar Billionaire Club.

A delightful movie to watch for a serious movie lover.
